Title: wrong stroke recieved on 9-holes round
Post by: od on November 09, 2009, 10:31:43 am
Hi Math

I made a strange discovery. I often play the 9-hole round in Moosseedorf. I have a new handycap of 28.5. If I play the 9-hole i recieve 27 strokes (playing hcp calculator). On the scorecard and also in the mobile app. I get always two strokes per hole instead of 4 less? That means i made a 21 round instead of 18 points (manually calculated).

Do you know what the problem is? Maybe it's the scorecard of the 9-hole? I checked the 18-hole and there it is correct.

Thanks in advance for your answer.

Kind regards
Tom

Hi Tom,

The issue seems to be that the stroke indexes are from 1 to 9 for the 9 holes course.

The software works on a 18 holes basis, so when you start your round it will compute the strokes for the 2x9 holes. It will attribute the strokes based on the indexes, the lowest indexes get more strokes. The first nine holes having indexes from 1 to 9, they will get 2 strokes each, the last nine hole, having "computed indexes" from 10 to 18, will get 1 stroke each. That 27 in total (9x2 + 1x9).

Usually, the 9 holes courses have indexes from 1 to 18, but using only odd or even numbers (1-3-5-.. or 2-4-6-..). This allow the indexes to be spread nicely on the holes in case of playing 2x9 holes (and in the software).

I've updated the course info (id: 1121) so it has odd strokes indexes. The received strokes must then be correct.

Could you test it ? You'll need to re-download the course to your device.

Do you have access to official data for this course ? If so, could you check the indexes ?

Regards,

Math

Hi math
It seems to work perfectly now.
And you also wrote the odd numbers in the right order.

Thanks for you help.

Tom
